Discipline Summary
On July 23, 2013, a patient sought treatment with Respondent for a complaint of left heel pain. Docun1entation in the patient chart indicates the patient disclosed that he was taking the medication Cornnadin. Following examination of the patient, Respondent recommended stretching of the calf muscle and application of ice. Respondent also prescribed Ibuprofen 600mg to be taken three (3) times per day for ten (10) days. The patient took the medication as prescribed. After stopping the Ibuprofen, the patient's blood pressure became extremely elevated and caused bleeding from the nose and eyes which required emergency surgery and hospitalization. Respondent fell below the standard of care by not monitoring the patient's INRĀ level while he was taking 1he Ibuprofen.
